Pricing

Transparent pricing,
aligned incentives

Traditional recruiters charge 20–35% of a hire's salary. We use flat fees and predictable models — because our job is to find the right person, not the most expensive one.

The Industry Standard

Percentage-of-salary model

  • Fees scale with salary — not with effort or results
  • Incentivizes placing higher-paid candidates, not better ones
  • Final cost is unknown until the offer is made
  • Retainer fees paid upfront, often non-refundable
  • Typical cost: $30,000–$60,000+ per hire
The Matchstick Way

Flat Fees & Predictable Models

You know the cost before we start

  • Flat fee regardless of the candidate's salary
  • Our only incentive: finding the right person for the role
  • You know the cost before we start — no surprises
  • Multiple engagement models to fit your hiring needs
  • Typical savings: 30–50% vs. traditional firms

Engagement Models

The right model for your needs

Whether you're filling a single leadership role or building a pipeline across multiple positions, we have a model that fits.

Executive Search

For leadership and C-suite roles where precision and confidentiality matter most. A retained, white-glove engagement with a dedicated senior team from kickoff to close.

VP, Director, C-suite, and board-level roles
Dedicated senior search team
Proprietary assessment and vetting process
Full compensation benchmarking
1-year placement guarantee

Why this model works. A retained flat fee creates clarity from day one, drives mutual buy-in, and consistently produces the strongest outcomes for executive-level searches.

How It Works

A retained flat fee — quoted upfront and split across two invoices.

01

Invoiced at Kickoff

Half of the flat fee is invoiced when the search begins, locking in dedicated resources and senior-level focus.

02

Invoiced at Placement

The remaining balance is invoiced upon successful hire — backed by our 1-year placement guarantee.

Common Questions

What does "flat fee" actually mean?

It means the price we quote you won't change. Our pricing is linked to the role — its scope, seniority, and complexity — but once we set the fee, it stays the same for as long as the search stays the same. No percentage of salary, no surprise add-ons.

How long does a search take?

It depends — on the role, how quickly we get feedback and decisions on your end, and the current market climate. That said, we work off a proven framework: speed to kickoff, disciplined sourcing, structured candidate presentation, and tight feedback loops to keep momentum. We're committed to moving as quickly as possible without compromising the quality of the hire.

What if the hire doesn't work out?

We stand behind our placements with a guarantee period (1 year for Executive Search). If a hire leaves or is terminated within the guarantee window, we'll reopen the search at no additional cost.

How do I know which model is right for us?

It depends on your hiring volume and timeline. For senior leadership and C-suite roles, Executive Search is the right fit. For manager- and director-level hires, Professional Recruiting offers either a single-search model or an ongoing retainer for multiple open pipelines. We're happy to help you figure it out on a discovery call.

Can you share specific pricing?

Fees vary by role complexity, seniority, and engagement model. We're happy to provide a transparent quote following a discovery call — no guesswork, no surprises.

Do you charge for searches that don't result in a hire?

For Executive Search and single-search Professional Recruiting engagements, the engagement fee covers our upfront work. If we don't place a candidate, the placement fee is never charged. For ongoing retainers, the monthly fee covers continuous recruiting support regardless of individual placement timing.
